FAQ

DIY Painting Kit
Includes unpainted wooden pieces and painting supplies—everything you need to start creating.

Unpainted
Natural wooden pieces only. Perfect if you already have your own painting supplies.

Hand-Painted
Beautifully painted and ready to display, collect, or gift.

Our wooden pieces are crafted from quality wood with smooth, paint-ready surfaces, making painting easy and enjoyable for beginners and experienced creators alike.

Apply thin layers of paint, letting each dry before adding the next. Start with lighter colors and use fine-tip markers for details to achieve a polished finish.

No worries! If the paint is still wet, gently blot it with a damp cloth. Once dry, you can usually cover mistakes with another layer of acrylic paint.

Tip: Lighter colors are easier to adjust before adding darker shades.

Absolutely! Blend watercolors while wet for soft transitions. With acrylic markers, let each layer dry before adding another for cleaner, more defined colors.

Thin layers may feel dry within minutes, depending on the paint and room conditions. Allow each layer to dry before adding more, and let your finished piece dry completely before handling.

Not necessarily! For indoor display, acrylic paint usually doesn’t require additional protection. For extra durability, consider a compatible clear acrylic sealer after the paint has fully dried.

Charming, though smaller than I pictured

I set the ghosts and the little trees up on the shelf before painting, and they look sweet even in bare wood with just the eyes inked in. My only note is that they are smaller than I imagined from the listing, so it is more of a little mantel scene than a statement piece. That said, the carving is neat and tidy and I am enjoying painting them. Good value overall.

Lovely mix of shapes in the set

Pictured in the sun are the turned pieces from the kit, little conifer trees, a mushroom, some bell shapes and round pieces, all smooth bare wood casting these long shadows across the table. The variety is what makes it fun, because you can build a whole little scene rather than just one figure. Everything is neatly turned with no splinters. A great starting point.

Contents of the box, paints and all

Laid the whole kit out on paper: the ghosts with their little hands, the turned tree and mushroom shapes, and the box of markers, so you really can start the moment it arrives. Everything is clean, smooth and ready, no prep, no missing bits. For the price it is a brilliant way to keep a rainy afternoon busy. We are building a whole ghost scene for the porch.

Ready to paint straight out of the box

This is everything laid out on the table before I started, two ghosts and a cluster of little cone trees, no sanding or prep needed and the eyes already done. I love that you get a scene to build rather than a single ornament, so there is a proper evening of painting in here. The wood is clean and pale so the colours really pop. Already planning my scheme.

A whole ghost family for Hallowe'en

I painted all three in one afternoon, a green one with a stitched smile, a white one with a little bat, and an orange one with a bat and green hands. They are genuinely adorable, and the marker colours are bold enough that you only need one coat. They are lined up on the hall table now and the little ones are obsessed. My favourite is the grumpy green one.

The little detachable hands are everything

Pictured raw, because the detail deserves showing off: the ghost comes with two tiny separate hands you slot into the sleeves before you paint, which is why the hugging arms look so adorable once they are on. The carved robes have soft folds and the eyes are already dotted in. It is small enough to sit in your palm and it takes paint beautifully. Such a clever little kit.

Lovely, though one coat was patchy

I painted mine a deep purple with black eyes and I love how it turned out. The only niggle is that on the flared robes the first coat looked a bit patchy where the grain is thirsty, so I needed a second pass to get it even. Once dry it is smooth and solid though. A really fun little paint-your-own, just set aside a bit of extra time for the base coat.

Pocket-sized and beautifully carved

Here it is in my hand for scale, and this little ghost is properly tiny, which only makes it more charming. The robe flares out into soft folds, the eyes and mouth are carved and inked, and the whole thing is smooth as anything. It is the sort of thing you want to paint in a single sitting and then keep out all October.

Even unpainted they are adorable

Three of the ghosts in bare wood with their little hands scattered around them, waiting to be slotted on and painted. Honestly, the raw version has a charm of its own, all soft carved folds and simple dotted eyes. I am doing each one a different colour for a little trio. The set is generous, the carving is crisp, and it arrived quickly.

Turned the cones into Halloween trees

I painted two of the cone pieces as little Halloween trees, one purple with white snowflake stars and one orange with black bats, and they flank the ghosts perfectly on the shelf. The flat faces take the marker really cleanly, so the snowflakes came out crisp. Such a cheap way to get a custom decoration. I think I prefer the purple one, but do not tell the orange.

Better than expected

Came out during a craft night with friends and everyone crowded around it. Pairs well with the other wooden figures from this shop. Nice to have something handmade for once instead of factory-made. Definitely recommending it to friends.

Lovely but flawed

Bought this on a whim and ended up really enjoying the painting part. Edges are smooth, no splinters when I handled it. Arrived later than expected and one piece looked slightly warped. Such a satisfying little project.

Painted and proud

Came out during a craft night with friends and everyone crowded around it. Felt sturdy in the hand, not flimsy like some kits I've tried. Nice to have something handmade for once instead of factory-made. Might grab a few more as gifts.

Adorable on the shelf — the ghost

Got this for my mom and now she texts me photos of it on her shelf. The wood grain shows through and looks lovely even before any color goes on. Would buy again without thinking twice.

Great gift idea — the ghost

Got this for my mom and now she texts me photos of it on her shelf. You can tell it's hand-carved, the imperfections are part of the charm. Edges are smooth, no splinters when I handled it. Couldn't be happier with it.

Lovely, just missing more options — the ghost

Picked this up on a slow weekend and it was exactly the reset I needed. Took an afternoon and was totally worth the time. Only knock is it's a touch smaller than the photos suggest. Might grab a few more as gifts.
