FAQ

DIY Painting Kit
Includes unpainted wooden pieces and painting supplies—everything you need to start creating.

Unpainted
Natural wooden pieces only. Perfect if you already have your own painting supplies.

Hand-Painted
Beautifully painted and ready to display, collect, or gift.

Our wooden pieces are crafted from quality wood with smooth, paint-ready surfaces, making painting easy and enjoyable for beginners and experienced creators alike.

Apply thin layers of paint, letting each dry before adding the next. Start with lighter colors and use fine-tip markers for details to achieve a polished finish.

No worries! If the paint is still wet, gently blot it with a damp cloth. Once dry, you can usually cover mistakes with another layer of acrylic paint.

Tip: Lighter colors are easier to adjust before adding darker shades.

Absolutely! Blend watercolors while wet for soft transitions. With acrylic markers, let each layer dry before adding another for cleaner, more defined colors.

Thin layers may feel dry within minutes, depending on the paint and room conditions. Allow each layer to dry before adding more, and let your finished piece dry completely before handling.

Not necessarily! For indoor display, acrylic paint usually doesn’t require additional protection. For extra durability, consider a compatible clear acrylic sealer after the paint has fully dried.

The carving is the best part

Pictured before any paint goes on, because the carving really is the star, that faceted cut, the little tails and the notches for the paws. They are smooth in the hand and a lovely warm wood colour. I am halfway through painting mine and the shapes are so good I almost feel bad covering them up. A great little kit, and it arrived quickly.

They line up on my windowsill now

I lined the finished cats along the ledge by the window and they look like a little row of strays sunning themselves. I gave each one its own colourway, black and white, ginger, grey calico, so no two match. The wood is light so they sit steady, and the paint has held up with no chipping. Genuinely one of the most fun craft projects I have done this year.

Real hand-carving, not moulded

This is the back of one, held in my hand for scale, so you can see it is genuinely carved from a single block rather than cast, the flat cut, the little notch for the legs and tail. I left a couple of mine bare because the pale wood is so pretty on its own, and painted the rest. It feels like a proper little object, warm and light, and the size is perfect for a shelf or a desk.

Four cats, four colourways

I painted all four in one sitting, a cream calico, a black-and-white tuxedo with a striped tail, a grey tabby and a white one with brown patches. Doing a set means you can experiment, and the paint is forgiving enough to build up the markings over a couple of thin coats. They dry in no time and sit flat on the shelf. A really relaxing few hours.

I painted it to match my own cat

My cat is white with a ginger-and-grey patch and I did the little wooden one to match her exactly, same markings, same speckled nose. She was very suspicious of it at first and spent ten minutes sniffing it, which was worth the whole purchase honestly. The paint covered the fine carving nicely and the ears stayed crisp. A little portrait of her that I can actually keep.

Cute, but rougher than I expected

Just so you know what you get: three raw carved blanks, and they are exactly that, raw. There were a few fuzzy patches and one had a rough edge I ended up sanding down myself before I could paint it. Once painted they are adorable, and for the price I am not too bothered. I would just set your expectations a little lower than the polished listing photos.

So cute I almost left it unpainted

I painted mine as a sleepy ginger tabby with its eyes closed, and it now sits on my shelf keeping my mug company. The little curve of the tail and the closed eyes came out so well that it genuinely looks like it is dozing. The carving is soft enough to paint a cat face easily but detailed enough to keep the shape. A tiny, charming thing that makes me smile every day.

Painted it identical to my grey boy

I matched the paint to my own grey tabby, same silver stripes, same green eyes, and set it in front of him. He sat sniffing it for ages trying to work out what it was. Worth it for that moment alone. The paint went on evenly and the stripe lines stayed crisp across the carved facets. A little twin of him that I will keep forever.

The whole litter, all painted up

I painted the full set and lined them up on the table, and honestly they look like a tiny colony, a calico, an orange tabby, a tuxedo with a striped tail, a spotty white one and a grey tabby. My favourite is the little tabby with the pink ears. The paint takes to the facets beautifully and the fine details like whiskers stay sharp. So much fun to do a whole set at once.

A little silver tabby

I painted mine as a silver-grey tabby all curled up, with soft pink inside the ears, and it looks so snug you almost expect it to purr. The curled pose is my favourite of the shapes and the paint sits right into the carved fur. It is on the desk by my keyboard and everyone who sees it picks it up. Simple to do and a lovely result.

Straight out of the box

This is how they arrive, a row of smooth pale blanks, no sanding needed and the little eyes already set. You get plenty of them, so it is a proper little project rather than a single ornament, and there is something satisfying about lining them all up before you begin. My kids have claimed two each. We spent a happy evening painting the lot. Really good value.

Lined them up before painting

A row of them lined up along my cushion, all still bare wood, and the pale shapes with their little tails and paw notches look lovely enough to keep as they are. I am painting mine as the cats of everyone in the family, one each. The blanks are smooth and even, so the faces come out clean. A really delightful little craft kit.

Made a little portrait of my cat

My boy is white with a black cap and a black patch, so I painted the wooden one to match him and he has decided it is his new toy. The likeness is genuinely quite good once the markings go on, and the paint follows the carved face without smudging. It now sits on the table next to him while he naps. Easily my favourite thing I have made this year.

Cute, a bit smaller than I expected

I painted this one as an orange tabby and it turned out sweet, round face, pink ears, little tabby stripes. My only note is that it is smaller than I pictured, so it reads more as a tiny figurine than a shelf piece. That said, the detail you can get on such a small surface is impressive, and it was a fun single-evening project. I will likely order a couple more.

Painted one for each cat I've loved

I did all of these in an evening, painting each little wooden cat to look like a cat from my life, a couple of white-and-ginger girls, a black one with a stripy tail, and one with pale blue eyes. They are small enough to hold all at once, but the carving still reads clearly as a cat. The paint sits flat without filling in the chisel marks, so they keep that hand-carved look. They live on my desk now.

Sweet little trio, over too soon

These three sit in one palm, so you can see how dainty they are, a black-and-white tuxedo, a calico with blue eyes and a pale one that reads a bit like a Siamese. Painting them is genuinely addictive and the faces stay tidy even at this scale, so my only real grumble is that I wished for a couple more in the set, because the evening ended too quickly. Easily the cutest thing on my shelf.

Lovely handmade feel — the cat

Took a chance on a tiny wooden kit and was pleasantly surprised. The weight feels right, solid but not heavy. The paint went on smoothly and dried without streaking. Already planning my next one.

Charming and well done

I'm not usually the crafty type but this was genuinely fun. Even half-finished it looked good on the table. Would buy again without thinking twice.

Thoughtful gift — the cat

Found this shop by accident and the little wooden piece caught my eye. It now has a permanent spot by my window. Glad I found this shop.

Exactly what I wanted

I'm not usually the crafty type but this was genuinely fun. Painting it was more relaxing than I expected, almost meditative. It's small enough to fit anywhere but has real presence. Five stars from me.

Perfect little craft — the cat

Kept seeing these on my feed and finally gave in. The shape is sweet, not cheesy like a lot of craft kits. Looks sweet next to the other pieces I've slowly collected. Five stars from me.
