FAQ

DIY Painting Kit
Includes unpainted wooden pieces and painting supplies—everything you need to start creating.

Unpainted
Natural wooden pieces only. Perfect if you already have your own painting supplies.

Hand-Painted
Beautifully painted and ready to display, collect, or gift.

Our wooden pieces are crafted from quality wood with smooth, paint-ready surfaces, making painting easy and enjoyable for beginners and experienced creators alike.

Apply thin layers of paint, letting each dry before adding the next. Start with lighter colors and use fine-tip markers for details to achieve a polished finish.

No worries! If the paint is still wet, gently blot it with a damp cloth. Once dry, you can usually cover mistakes with another layer of acrylic paint.

Tip: Lighter colors are easier to adjust before adding darker shades.

Absolutely! Blend watercolors while wet for soft transitions. With acrylic markers, let each layer dry before adding another for cleaner, more defined colors.

Thin layers may feel dry within minutes, depending on the paint and room conditions. Allow each layer to dry before adding more, and let your finished piece dry completely before handling.

Not necessarily! For indoor display, acrylic paint usually doesn’t require additional protection. For extra durability, consider a compatible clear acrylic sealer after the paint has fully dried.

Our whole Christmas table came to life

We bought this set for a family craft afternoon over the holidays and it turned into a proper little production line. Between us we painted the raccoon, the grey wolf, the tiger, the fox and the little black bear, and each one sits on his own red skis holding a pair of poles. The little wooden trees come bare, so we left a couple natural and painted the rest, and they make the whole scene look like a ski slope on the table. What I loved most is that nothing is glued together out of the box - you pick your colours and give each animal its own character. Six of us, one big sheet of cork mat, and three hours of laughing. Great value for the amount of fun and the number of finished pieces you get.

Took it travelling to paint with my sister

I threw this kit in my bag for a trip to visit my sister and we spent an afternoon painting on the sofa. Here is the scatter in progress - the finished white wolf and orange fox on their skis next to the ones we hadn't started yet, along with a few of the bare wooden trees. Everything is small and light so it packs down to nothing, and the markers didn't leak in the suitcase. It turned a rainy afternoon into something we actually remember. Both of us want a set of our own now.

My favourite way to switch off after work

I keep this little kit on my desk and paint one animal whenever I need to decompress. This orange fox with his red hat went on last night once I shut the laptop, and by the time my coffee went cold he was done. The markers are the highlight - they are genuinely smooth and the colours are opaque on the first layer. There's something soothing about painting the tiny ears and the white muzzle tip by tip. It also makes a nice conversation piece next to my monitor, and it costs far less than a night out for the same feeling.

Good clean blanks, but bare wood takes patience

These arrived as pure unfinished wood - this is the set straight out of the box, before a single drop of paint. The carving is nice and crisp, the little faces have real character, and each animal's ski poles are already fitted. My only gripe is that the blanks do need a light sanding in a few spots before you paint, and the pale wood drinks up light colours, so you have to go over them a couple of times to get an even finish. Nothing that put me off, and the end result is lovely, but I would set aside a proper afternoon rather than expect a quick ten-minute job.

Sunny balcony afternoon, set up and ready

I got everything out onto the balcony while the weather held - the bare animals and the little cone trees all laid out with the markers within reach. The sunlight shows off the nice pale grain of the blanks before you paint, which is half the pleasure. There are plenty of markers in the box so you're not fighting over colours, and each cone tree is nicely turned so it stands straight. This is my second set; the first lot became a little winter scene on the mantlepiece last year. This year's batch is going on the tree.

Bought it for a tiger-mad nephew

My nephew is obsessed with tigers so I got this kit for his birthday and he asked to do the tiger straight away. I helped with the stripes and he filled in the orange, and honestly it came out better than the box photo. The wooden tiger is about palm-sized, sits neatly on his skis, and the face has that little red nose that makes it look friendly rather than fierce. The acrylic dries fast so there was barely any waiting between layers, and it hasn't chipped despite going everywhere with him since. Already asked me for the rest of the animals.

Two down, three to go - my son's new hobby

My son asked me to help him paint the mouse and the little black bear, and two hours later we were still going. The markers are proper art markers, not the flimsy ones you sometimes get with these kits - look at how clean the grey belly and the tan face came out, no patchy bits at all. He did the bear almost entirely himself and is very proud of it. We now have three animals left to do and he's already planning who gets which. A genuinely good screen-free afternoon for a child.

They made the perfect little bookshelf ski team

I lined all five up along the front of my bookcase and they genuinely look like a proper display piece rather than a kids' craft. The fox, raccoon, black bear, mouse and tiger each lean into their poles and stand rock solid on their skis. The paint coverage is even, the little details hold up close, and the natural wood grain still shows through. Friends keep asking which shop I bought the ornaments from, and they can't believe I painted them myself from a kit. A lovely way to brighten a plain shelf.

The markers in this set really do the job

I have done a fair few of these wooden painting kits and the pens are usually the weak point, but not here. I used the acrylic markers straight on the little wolf - grey and white fur, a red hat, a green scarf - and the colour went on solid in a single pass with no bleed into the grain. The little fella stands about the length of my palm, skis and poles included, and he is steady enough to sit on a shelf without falling over. The tip is fine enough for the eyes and the stripes but broad enough to block in the body quickly, so it stayed relaxing rather than fiddly. I finished him in one evening and I am already eyeing the rest of the animals in the box.

A whole ski slope lined up on the cafe table

We meet up for a craft night at a local cafe every month and this was our project. Five of us each took an animal - fox, raccoon, black bear, tiger and mouse - and by the end of the evening they were standing in a row like they were queuing for the ski lift. Nobody had painted anything in years and everyone managed it, which says a lot about how clear the wooden shapes are. The undyed wood is soft and forgiving and the markers are easy to control even for beginners. We got a lot of curious looks from the next table, in a good way.

Relaxing and fun

Grabbed one on vacation to bring home and it reminded me of the trip. You can tell it's hand-carved, the imperfections are part of the charm. Looks sweet next to the other pieces I've slowly collected. Holds up well, no regrets.

Sweet little project

Found this shop by accident and the little wooden piece caught my eye. Edges are smooth, no splinters when I handled it. A calm little project that didn't need any special skill. Would buy again without thinking twice.

Exactly what I wanted

I'm not usually the crafty type but this was genuinely fun. Stands on its own without needing a separate stand. Pairs well with the other wooden figures from this shop. Five stars from me.

Painted and proud

Bought this on a whim and ended up really enjoying the painting part. The wood grain shows through and looks lovely even before any color goes on. Even half-finished it looked good on the table. Couldn't be happier with it.

Cute but smaller than expected — the ski animal

Bought it as a stocking stuffer and it stole the show. The wood grain shows through and looks lovely even before any color goes on. Wish a stand was included, had to lean it against the wall. Might grab a few more as gifts.
